Mammoth Cave National Park

Jun 8th to Jun 11th 2023

Mammoth Cave National Park, located in south-central Kentucky, is home to the world’s longest known cave system. Beneath rolling hills and forested landscapes lies a vast network of limestone tunnels and chambers stretching more than 400 miles. Above ground, the park offers winding trails through hardwood forests, wildlife-rich habitats, and the tranquil Green and Nolin Rivers for canoeing and fishing. Guided cave tours reveal centuries of geological history, fragile cave ecosystems, and rich cultural lore tied to the region’s Indigenous peoples and early explorers. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mammoth Cave National Park preserves a unique underground world alongside peaceful surface landscapes, offering visitors a remarkable blend of scientific wonder, outdoor recreation, and quiet reflection.

We really like Mammoth Cave National Park, but this time our tour was not good. The guide kept complaining about the kids walking slowly and even though we finished 20+ minutes early, said we were causing issues by holding everyone up! Never had a bad experience before though… The campground we stayed at was one of my favorites and the kids had a blast!
